Baylor celebrates Match Day 2026
Baylor College of Medicine’s fourth-year medical students marked the defining milestone, Match Day, on March 20, discovering where they will begin their residency training.
This year, 191 students matched into residency programs across the country. Of those, 53 will remain at Baylor and 90 will continue their training in Texas—strengthening the state’s physician workforce. Many also matched into primary care fields, helping address critical healthcare needs nationwide.
The day was filled with excitement, anticipation and heartfelt celebration as students opened their envelopes, surrounded by classmates, loved ones and mentors who supported them along the way. Alumni Affairs proudly joined in the celebration, welcoming families and honoring the journey that brought each student to this moment.

For many in attendance, Match Day was more than a milestone—it was deeply personal.
“On the 25th anniversary of my own Match Day, I witnessed my daughter Naomi, a Baylor College of Medicine MS4, match at University of California San Francisco for neurology, her first-choice program. I found her Match Day to be so much more emotional than my own. Naomi was 3 years old when I brought her to my Match Day, and I couldn’t have imagined then that I would be celebrating her Match Day at the same medical school pursuing the same specialty as me a quarter of a century later. Tears of joy were shed by all!”

The celebration was made even more meaningful by Baylor residents, who shared words of encouragement with students ahead of Match Day, underscoring the strong sense of community that defines the Baylor experience.
As these newly matched physicians prepare to begin residency, they carry forward Baylor’s mission and are ready to make a lasting impact in medicine, in their communities and around the world.
