Ophthalmology is a field where every day offers the chance to ask, ‘Who can I help today?’ And, by golly, you really do help people daily,” says Mitchel Wong, M.D., a proud alumnus of Baylor College of Medicine’s Class of 1964. In 2023, Dr. Mitchel Wong and his wife, Mrs. Rose Wong, established the Milton and Laurie Boniuk Excellence in Ophthalmology Lectureship to honor the Boniuks’ remarkable six decades of service and dedication to Baylor College of Medicine.
Through their generosity, the Wongs created an endowment to perpetuate the spirit of excellence that Dr. Boniuk instilled in Dr. Wong and countless trainees over the years. This annual lectureship will showcase the world’s leading ophthalmologists, offering residents, faculty, and the greater Houston community access to cutting-edge innovations in the field.
The Wongs and the Boniuks share a deep commitment to education, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy. “It’s not how much you have; it’s what you do with what you have that matters,” says Dr. Mitchel Wong.
