Alumni Awards

Ten honorees selected for significant contributions in research, teaching and patient care

Baylor College of Medicine announces 10 honorees who will be recognized at the 2024 Alumni Awards ceremony, Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Texas Medical Center (TMC) Helix Park’s TMC3 Collaborative Building. Presented annually to Baylor alumni and current faculty for achievements in the areas of innovative research, outstanding patient care, excellence in teaching and administrative leadership, the awards also include a lifetime achievement category. This year’s recipient is O.H. “Bud” Frazier, M.D. ’67, Res. ’68, Res. ’74.

“I am honored for this recognition by Baylor College of Medicine and to be among the exemplary group of prior recipients,” Dr. Frazier said. “The contributions I have been able to make to the surgical treatment of advanced heart failure were initiated when, as a Baylor medical student, I began working with Drs. Liotta and DeBakey on the challenge of mechanical assistance and the replacement of the failing heart. To date, there have been more than 100,000 patients worldwide who have been treated with these devices that had their origin in the Baylor research laboratory.”
