Dr. Sally Kornbluth, president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, received an honorary Doctor of Letters in Medicine degree and delivered the commencement address. Prior to her role at MIT, Kornbluth served as a faculty member, vice dean, and provost at Duke University. She holds a Ph.D. in molecular oncology and has published extensively on topics including cell proliferation and programmed cell death. In her address, she urged graduates to remain open to change and not to become too attached to a predetermined career path. She also reminded them that while a perfect balance between work and personal life may be unattainable, fulfillment comes from dedicating time to what feels meaningful.
We were so honored to welcome our newest Baylor graduates into the alumni association. It was a privilege to witness each student cross the stage—each step a reflection of countless hours of study, perseverance, late nights, and unwavering dedication to a life of purpose and service. Families and mentors looked on with pride as dreams took flight, and the energy in the room was nothing short of inspiring.
These graduates are the future of medicine, science and health care—carrying with them not only the knowledge and skills they gained at Baylor, but the compassion, resilience and commitment that define our community and beyond. We cannot wait to see the impact they will make in the world, and we will be cheering them on every step of the way.
