Maksim Mamonkin, Ph.D. '13

Maksim “Max” Mamonkin, Ph.D. ‘13, is an associate professor in the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy (CAGT) and the Department of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine. He obtained his Ph.D. in immunology from Baylor in 2013 and conducted postdoctoral studies with Malcolm Brenner, Ph.D., in the CAGT. His laboratory is developing engineered T-cells for the therapy of hematologic malignancies and other diseases with unmet clinical need. His research resulted in three ongoing Phase 1 clinical trials of CAR T-cells in T-cell malignancies and Acute Myeloid Leukemia and technologies licensed to clinical-stage biotech companies. Dr. Mamonkin is a scientific co-founder and acting chief scientific officer of March Biosciences, a clinical-stage company developing new cell therapies for intractable cancers.
