Kick off Alumni Reunion Weekend with a warm welcome reception. Connect with fellow alumni, faculty, students and members of Baylor College of Medicine’s executive leadership while enjoying passed hors d’oeuvres, dinner stations, and an open bar.
Start the day with breakfast followed by an update on the College’s achievements and priorities, delivered by Paul Klotman, M.D., President, CEO and Executive Dean of Baylor College of Medicine. During this relaxed discussion, you’ll hear the latest developments about Baylor’s incredible work across its mission areas, from educating the next generation of healthcare providers to new biomedical research discoveries, to expanding Baylor Medicine’s clinical care programs.
Join Joseph Petrosino, Ph.D. ’98, Fel. ’02, chief scientific innovation officer, the Innovation Institute at Baylor College of Medicine, and Livia Eberlin, Ph.D., professor of Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine, for a conversation on the groundbreaking advances happening at Baylor that are shaping the future of health and science.
Dr. Petrosino will highlight the transformative work of Baylor’s new Innovation Institute, which fosters collaborations across medicine, biotechnology, and data science to accelerate discoveries from the lab into real-world solutions. Guided by his career in microbiome research and founding his own start-up, he will share how Baylor is building new pathways for innovation to attract commercial investment and reach the marketplace. Dr. Eberlin will share how her lab has adapted the MasSpec Pen for use in breast cancer surgeries. Surgeons in the Texas Medical Center are now testing how this technology provides real-time chemical analysis to distinguish healthy from cancerous tissue during surgery as well as how it can help map molecules in complex tissues, paving the way for new diagnostics and treatments.
See firsthand how the next generation is already making discoveries! Join Baylor medical students as they showcase their award-winning research projects in an interactive poster session. These student presenters were selected as winners of the Henry J.N. Taub & James K. Alexander Medical Student Research Symposium. Attendees can discuss the students’ work, offer feedback and rank their favorites. The top three student projects will receive a cash prize.
Featuring: Drs. Wayne Goodman, Ganesh Rao, Sameer Sheth
Join us for a special luncheon panel honoring Baylor College of Medicine’s 125 years of impact on research, education, and patient care, specifically in the neurological sciences. A few of Baylor’s premier neurological experts—Wayne Goodman, M.D., professor and chair of the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences; Ganesh Rao, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Neurosurgery; and Sameer Sheth, M.D, Ph.D., professor and vice chair of Research in the Department of Neurosurgery—will discuss Baylor’s status as a widely recognized leader in the fields of neurology, neuroscience and neurosurgery. They will also share how Baylor aims to further expand its neurological expertise by establishing the Brain Institute, a multidisciplinary initiative uniting its proven strengths in neurology, neuroscience, neurosurgery and psychiatry to drive advancements in cutting-edge research, top-tier clinical care and rigorous academic training.
From leading the College’s world-renowned program in psychiatric neuromodulation and effectively rewiring the brain, to discovering a neuron-glia hybrid brain cell and upending our conventional understanding of brain function, Baylor is ready to write a new chapter of brain health.
