BRINGING DISCOVERY TO LIFE

Every Breakthrough Begins With an Idea: The Innovation Institute

Every breakthrough
has a journey.

While many discoveries begin in the laboratory, moving them toward clinical care requires expertise, strategic investment and the right partnerships at every stage. Without that support, even the most promising ideas can stall before reaching the people they were designed to help.

The Baylor College of Medicine Innovation Institute (BCMII) was created to help move promising discoveries from the lab to real-world impact. The Institute supports Baylor researchers by identifying high-potential innovations and providing the guidance, resources and partnerships needed to advance them toward clinical application. This approach strengthens Baylor’s ability to attract collaborators, launch new ventures and accelerate breakthroughs that can improve health and shape the future of medicine.

PHILANTHROPY IN ACTION

At Baylor College of Medicine, we believe in Tomorrow’s Medicine Today. Turning discovery into impact requires more than groundbreaking science, it takes sustained investment, strategic partnerships and the resources to help promising innovations reach their next stage of development. Your support will help advance the following areas:

  • Translational Pilot Fund: Provide seed funding for proof-of-concept studies, prototype development, product testing and other early-stage activities that help promising discoveries advance.
  • Innovation Infrastructure and Business Development: Expand BCMII’s business development capacity by strengthening industry partnerships and adding the expertise and resources needed to advance Baylor discoveries.
  • Education and Entrepreneurship: Develop educational programs that prepare students, faculty and clinicians to translate discoveries into real-world solutions.
  • Clinical Trials: Accelerate Baylor’s most promising innovations into clinical trials by supporting critical early-stage activities.

TRANSLATIONAL PILOT FUND

×

In the past year, Baylor faculty submitted 130 invention disclosures, underscoring the breadth of Baylor’s intellectual assets and innovation potential. Many of these discoveries require targeted funding to move from early-stage concepts to commercial opportunities. Philanthropic support provides essential seed capital for research, testing, prototype development, and regulatory milestones, helping transform promising innovations into life-changing products
